I wasn't sure what to expect when I downloaded this book. What was meant by a storyteller?
The answer was apparent from page one. The story of Solomon, the storyteller, and David, his son, soon to be storyteller, makes you think. The story of the beginning of time and the pursuit of wealth and power hit home, especially in these times. The book moved along keeping my interest the whole time. Sometimes I had to stop and really think about what the author was saying in between the words.
To bring the book's message down to the average reader it is about good versus evil, it is about sacrifice for what you believe in, it is about love.
I enjoyed reading this book. It is an inspirational story, because it is a true reflection of reality. You see this reality through the eyes of the Storyteller, his wife Lanisha, and their son, David. The book brings together fiction, religion, mysticism, myth and magic to tell a story about human relationships, a man and his wife, a father and his son, a mother and her son, a family just like any other family. It is a family in pursuit of happiness, just like any other family.
The plot is delicious, intriguing and satisfying because it tries to explain things that are not explainable. The Storyteller uses riddles and enigmas as a storytelling device to help the boy remember the stories told by the father.
There are many problems. The son must go on a journey all alone. The characters have secrets, nobody knows everything about each other, so trust and faith become themes that run throughout the book.
The book shows you how when everything is good, it is easy to show your love. It is difficult to show your love when bad things happen, when the people we love and trust, respect and look up to, a father, a mother, a friend, a son, is not everything that he or she seems to be.
What do we do when we get disappointed? Do we stop loving one another, or do we forgive and forget? Is that possible? Can things ever be the same again when someone you love tells a lie, tricks you, deceives you, cheats on you?
How do you solve that problem when it happens to you? What do you do? The answer to that question in this book will surprise you, make you think about the quality of your relationships, and inspire you to be a better person in your relationships with your friends, and your family. After all, it is never too late to be good...
Whimsical and entertaining yet sweet, "Story Tellers In Pursuit of Happiness" is an enjoyably unique take on folklore. There's a lot that you will recognize, but it's told through a unique new lens that offers new insights. I liked the bilateral structure, with the different storytelling emphasis in Books 1 and 2 respectively. Overall, this is a touching and whimsical tale that I would highly recommend!

This is the second book I've had the pleasure of reading by Thomas Baker, and I am once again, extremely impressed! The title is powerful and does not disappoint. The possibility of a joyful and happy Earth (sigh) is a beautiful dream that I believe lies within all of us. I love being reminded of that.
Exciting, imaginative, magical...THIS is what a good storyteller offers! Story Tellers In Pursuit of Happiness Witches, Wizards, & Warlocks- is truly a 'pot of gold'. I highly recommend.
Story Tellers was my second read from Author Thomas Jerome Baker.
I knew I was in for a treat with this imaginative tale which I would call a hybrid tale of folklore, mythology and myths. I felt I was taking an astral trip into the Celestial Realm with the characters and stories from the great story tellers portrayed here.Long ago in another world from another time the great and powerful story teller passes on the legends of life, world power, greed and pure love to the innocent who is called the little one. I felt as though I was the ‘Little One’ in the story, becoming so engrossed in all the tales of immortality, faith and good vs evil. There was a message here that could be applied to everyday life. The story has such an easy flow as it blended into the stories from each of the story tellers who were depicted. The author has a well crafted story here that will touch the hearts of many.
